two "sirocco" safari chairs

beechwood & leather

W 68cm, D 66cm, H 72cm

A pair of 1970s "Sirocco" chairs in beech and light tan leather by Arne Norell. Norell's take on Kaare Klint's safari chair, the Sirocco chair is an incredibly well conceived design.

Impressively sized, with cushions and ergonomically slanted back and seat, they are extremely comfortable. The simple elegance and natural colours of these chairs would suit any modern interior.

These chairs can be completely dissembled for ease of transport. Despite this they are robust and very stable. The wood struts are extremely strong, the stucture held together with thick straps and brass buckles. The leather, though soft, is thick and very hardwearing. Each chair bears its original maker's sticker.

These chairs are in excellent condition for their vintage. Structurally there are no defects whatsoever. The leather has minor patination which does not detract.
